Secondary Sulfate Minerals from Thallium Mineralized Areas: Their Formation and Environmental Significance
نویسندگان
چکیده
Thallium is a highly toxic metal and predominantly hosted by sulfides associated with low-temperature hydrothermal mineralization. Weathering oxidation of generate acid drainage high concentration thallium, posing threat to surrounding environments. may also be incorporated into secondary sulfate minerals, which act as temporary storage for thallium. We present state-of-the-art review on the formation mechanism minerals from thallium mineralized areas varied roles these play in Tl mobility. Up 89 independent four unnamed have been documented. These are dominated sulfosalts limited several sites. Occurrence, crystal chemistry, content indicate that occurs Tl(I) K-bearing sulfate. Lanmuchangite acts transient source sink its water-soluble feature, whereas dorallcharite, Tl-voltaite, Tl-jarosite long term surface Acid and/or ferric iron derived dissolution increase pyrite process release Tl-bearing term.

متن کاملManganese oxide minerals: crystal structures and economic and environmental significance.
Manganese oxide minerals have been used for thousands of years-by the ancients for pigments and to clarify glass, and today as ores of Mn metal, catalysts, and battery material. More than 30 Mn oxide minerals occur in a wide variety of geological settings. They are major components of Mn nodules that pave huge areas of the ocean floor and bottoms of many fresh-water lakes. Mn oxide minerals are...
متن کاملSecondary Minerals and Constituents of the Marcellus Shale Formation
This work identifies unknown crystals found encrusting the Marcellus Shale Formation at the Mapleton Quarry locality in Central Pennsylvania, over the course of a month. The outcrop has been exposed for sufficient time for there to be advanced chemical weathering, allowing for the presence of secondary minerals to form and changes in the composition of the surrounding water table and environmen...
متن کاملElectrochemical Deposition and Dissolution of Thallium from Sulfate Solutions
The electrochemical behavior of thallium was studied on glassy carbon electrodes in sulfate solutions. Cyclic voltammetry was used to study the kinetics of the electrode processes and to determine the nature of the limiting step of the cathodic reduction of thallium ions. According to the dependence of current on stirring rate and scan rate, this process is diffusion limited. Chronocoulometry s...
متن کاملChromite Composition and Accessory Minerals in Chromitites from Sulawesi, Indonesia: Their Genetic Significance
Several chromite deposits located in the in the South and Southeast Arms of Sulawesi, Indonesia, have been investigated by electron microprobe. According to the variation of the Cr# = Cr/(Cr + Fe3+), the chromite composition varies from Cr-rich to Al-rich. Small platinum-group minerals (PGM), 1–10 μm in size, occur in the chromitites. The most abundant PGM is laurite, which has been found inclu...
